Asheville to Greenville Movers

Greenville is the closest of our long-distance destinations, about 60 miles down I-26 east, dropping off the Blue Ridge escarpment into the South Carolina upstate. The two cities have a real back-and-forth, and Rest Easy Moving runs the Asheville to Greenville route constantly. One of our crews loads in the mountains and unloads downtown or out toward Mauldin and Simpsonville, with nobody else in between.

Down the escarpment on I-26

The short distance is the easy part; the elevation change is the part worth respecting. I-26 drops a couple thousand feet off the mountains into Greenville, and a truck full of furniture wants a crew that loads and brakes for that grade. The Saluda Grade just south of the state line is one of the steepest mainline descents in the region, so we load with that downhill in mind and keep the speed in check. Because it crosses into South Carolina, this is interstate work under our US DOT and MC authority, even though it is barely an hour on the road. We keep our NCUC household-goods certificate current on the Asheville end as well.

The lowest-priced route we run

At 60 miles, Greenville sits right at the floor of our long-distance pricing. A studio or one-bedroom can start at $2,360, which is where our binding long-distance quotes begin, and a full four-bedroom house tops the bands well below what the longer routes cost. You still get a binding written estimate before we load, as North Carolina requires, so the short drive never turns into a surprise bill. Because the leg is so quick, most Greenville moves are wrapped in a single day, and the crew that loaded your kitchen in Asheville is setting it down in your new place by afternoon. The $150 deposit holds your slot and comes off the total.

“Quick Woodfin apartment move. Booked Friday, moved Saturday. Honest hourly billing, friendly crew, zero damage. Easy.”

“Our Biltmore Forest house is full of antiques my wife inherited, and we were nervous handing them to anyone. The crew brought extra blankets and used a custom crate for a tall mirror. They took their time on the curving driveway and never bumped the brick columns at the gate. Four movers worked the whole day and the price stayed inside the quoted range. Every piece arrived without a mark. These are real pros who clearly do this for a living, not a couple of college kids with a borrowed truck.”

“Moved from the Kimberly area over to Knoxville, west on I-40 through the Pigeon River Gorge. They warned me that stretch can get foggy and slow but planned the timing well and delivered on schedule. Binding quote held.”

Route FAQ

Greenville is barely an hour away, so why is it priced as long-distance?
Because the move crosses the South Carolina line, it is interstate by law and runs under our US DOT and MC authority on a binding quote, not the Asheville local hourly rate. The upside is that at 60 miles it sits at the very bottom of our long-distance pricing, starting around $2,360 for a small load.
Can my Greenville move load and deliver on the same day?
Almost always. The drive down I-26 is about an hour, so the great majority of Greenville moves load in the morning and finish the unload the same day. Only a large, fully packed house might push part of the work to the next morning.
Does the big drop in elevation down to Greenville affect the move?
It is something we plan for rather than worry about. I-26 loses a couple thousand feet off the escarpment, so we load and strap the truck for that grade and brake accordingly. Our crews run this descent regularly, which is why we drive every Greenville job ourselves.
