Swannanoa Movers

An Asheville crew covering Swannanoa and the rest of Western NC.

Moving in Swannanoa, NC

Swannanoa sits between Asheville and Black Mountain along the Swannanoa River, about 12 minutes east on I-40 or the old US-70. It is the valley community anchored by the Warren Wilson College farm and the Beacon mill heritage, strung between the river bottom and the ridges on either side. We run the Swannanoa Valley daily on the way to and from Black Mountain, so the river-bottom drives and the climbs off Bee Tree and Patton Cove are routine ground for our crew.

Our Swannanoa moves

The work here ranges from students and staff connected to Warren Wilson to families settling in the valley between the city and Black Mountain. Rest Easy does it all directly — our 8 trucks, our uniformed W-2 movers, no subcontractors. Wesley is a Buncombe County native who started the company in 2015 to give the east-valley communities a mover that simply arrives and gets it done, and our Swannanoa crew works to that standard.

Local jobs are $139/hr for two movers and a truck, with pads, dollies, and tools included, and a third mover at $195/hr for larger loads. A studio usually falls in the $400–$580 band and a 2-bedroom $1,030–$1,540. We provide the written estimate before move day, as North Carolina law requires, and a $150 deposit holds the date and applies to the total. We keep our NCUC certificate and US DOT/MC authority current for any move that leaves the state.

Like the rest of the valley, Swannanoa gets early ice on the I-40 overpasses and the shaded river-bottom curves in winter, so we watch the forecast and adjust the start time instead of pushing a loaded truck onto a glazed grade. Send us the inventory and the addresses and we will give you a plan and a price that hold.

What's Covered

Swannanoa Reviews

★★★★★

“Easy little move in Oakley. Booked it online, $150 deposit, done in three hours. The guys were funny and fast.”

“Big farmhouse move out in Fairview with a gravel driveway that climbs at a real angle. I was worried about a loaded truck on that grade but the crew chief had clearly done plenty of mountain driveways before and parked smart, shuttling the heavy stuff in slow. They disassembled two enormous bed frames and a sectional, wrapped everything in moving blankets, and reassembled it all at the new place across town. Four movers, two trucks, full day. The price came in at the top of the band they quoted but not a dollar over, and they showed me the breakdown. No complaints at all.”

“Moved into a downtown building near the Grove Arcade. Loading zone was a nightmare with all the foot traffic but the crew handled the timing and the building's COI paperwork themselves. Stress-free.”

FAQ

Is Swannanoa close enough to count as a local move?
Yes. Swannanoa is about 12 minutes east on I-40, right in the middle of our service area between Asheville and Black Mountain. You get the local hourly rate and deposit with no added travel charge.
We're moving in or out near Warren Wilson — any issue with the campus-area roads?
None for us. We run the valley roads around the college and the farm regularly, and we plan the truck size for the narrower river-bottom drives. Tell us the access and we will scout it ahead of time.
Will winter ice on I-40 push back our move?
Possibly the start time, not the whole job. The overpasses and shaded valley curves between Swannanoa and Black Mountain freeze early, so if a morning is unsafe we adjust and tell you in advance instead of risking a loaded truck on ice.
